About

Welcome!

Starting therapy can be a key step towards a life of less emotional turbulence and more joy. I hope to provide a sense of unconditional support as you walk this path. My approach involves helping you to understand yourself better, as well as to develop practical tools to respond to life’s challenges with greater ease and flexibility.

About my training

About my training

I started my journey as a psychologist by completing Bachelor's, Honours, and Master's degrees at UCT. I then moved to the US to pursue doctoral studies in Counselling Psychology at the State University of New York, in Albany.

My clinical training included placements in a wide variety of settings, including community mental health, university counselling, inpatient psychiatric care, and neuropsychological rehabilitation. After finishing my Ph.D., I obtained licensure and continued to work as a psychologist in the state of Utah. I moved back to South Africa in 2018 and am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

About my approach

My approach is holistic, meaning that I have a deep appreciation for how multiple dimensions of your life (physical, emotional, spiritual and social, to name a few) intersect to influence your overall well-being. While therapy focuses on what is current and relevant in your life, it can also be immensely valuable to understand how life experiences have shaped your patterns of coping and relating to others.

I take a strengths-based approach, which includes focusing not just on what you’re struggling with, but also on your infinite resilience. I aim to provide a safe therapeutic space where we can clarify what’s truly important to you and develop tools to work with painful emotions, so that trauma and difficulty is transformed into unique strength and personal growth.

I draw from a range of different therapeutic traditions, and my areas of specialty include adjustment, life transitions, identity development, as well as support in managing stress, anxiety, and interpersonal difficulties.
